CONSULTATIONS via PHONE or SKYPE
Do you have a simple question or an area of interest/concern for which you would like some help? I offer 30 and 60-minute consultations via phone or Skype nationwide for a variety of important topics. Written instructions and guidelines will be provided via email after each consultation.
To schedule a consultation, please fill out the form below. I will respond to schedule a time for your consultation. Once a time has been scheduled, I will send you an invoice and instructions for payment via PayPal.
1. Diet: Guidelines for choosing an appropriate, cost-effective, healthy diet for your puppy or adult dog (except for dogs with known health concerns).
2. New Dog: Information to aid in the transitioning of a new dog into your family/household, including tips and suggestions that will make the "getting acquainted" period between new pets and resident pets as quick and easy as possible.
3. Crate Training: How to choose the right crate (size and type) for your new dog, including information to make the crate training process go smoothly and create a comfortable “den” for your dog.
4. Socialization: How to socialize your pup the right way so that his/her experiences are safe and happy. Socializing at a young age (ideally before 14 weeks of age) is critically important to prevent your pup from developing fear-related issues at a later stage of development. However, there is a right and a wrong way to socialize, and I can help steer this process in the right direction.
5. Puppy Proofing: How to puppy proof your home for safety concerns and accidents.
6. Chew Toys: How to choose safe, appropriate chew toys for your dog and keep your dog from chewing off-limits objects.

Potty Training Basics - Potty training needs to be done correctly from the start. Mistakes can be costly and time-consuming. I can provide you with information to help you: choose an appropriate crate or pen, decide which management tools (gates, tethers, pens, etc.) are necessary, use the most effective cleaning agents, schedule potty breaks, choose the right place and substrate for your pup’s potty area, keep a dog from going back to eliminate on previously soiled areas of your home, motivate a dog to go potty in the right place, supply you with appropriate feeding schedules and more.
Prepare Fido for a New Baby - Many dogs are used to being the "one and only" in the home until baby comes along and then feel left out when the baby arrives, which may lead to unwanted attention-seeking behaviors. If a dog has not previously been properly socialized to babies, this must also be addressed. In addition, it is important to consider safety and management concerns whenever you have dogs and babies living in the same home.
Be an Effective Leader to Your Dog - All dogs need and benefit from a fair, calm, confident leader. If you want a dog to respond to you on your terms and not his, creating the right kind of relationship based on trust and mutual respect is a must. I will address all of the important factors of benevolent leadership and provide you with specifics, which include clear communication (in a way that the dog will be most likely to understand you), and motivation. Without these other elements, it is nearly impossible to get a dog to respond to your cues every time. However, when you provide good leadership, boundaries, structure, motivation, and clear communication, you have all of the necessary and essential elements to get a dog to respond to you happily and willingly.
