"Scooter is fabulous. That dog has become a wonder dog, I mean it. Everywhere I go with him, ( which is pretty much everywhere I go), people ooh and ah about what a well-behaved dog he is." Alison, Poway

Planning a vacation or traveling out-of-town? Working 60-hour weeks? If you live in San Diego, Temecula/Murrieta, or Riverside, our board and train program may be the perfect solution. Bring your dog to us, and we'll do the training for you!
Benefits and features of our boarding program:
Wonder Dog Ranch is located in Valley Center, CA and is situated on six rolling acres with plenty of room for romping and playing. Exercise yards/kennels are spotlessly clean and comfortable, and dogs are given ample opportunities for exercise, playtime, and socialization in a safe, supervised environment. We go out of our way to make sure your dog's stay with us is pleasant and enjoyable. After all, training should be effective and fun! Board and train programs are designed for dogs that require obedience training and minor behavior modification. Since dogs are situational learners, certain behaviors such as chewing, digging, barking, and potty training are better addressed in your home during our follow up sessions. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept dogs that behave aggressively, or have separation anxiety (excessive whining, barking, or escapist tendencies). Private lessons are a better option for these dogs. Training requires two to four weeks. All behaviors are taught off-leash with the exception of loose-leash walking.
Two-Week Jump Start Camp
This is a great beginner course, especially geared to puppies or young adults (up to the age of eight months). The focus of this program is basic obedience and manners. It can also be used as a refresher for dogs that need a brush-up or a bit of fine tuning. Behaviors are taught with light distraction proofing.
Sit and Release Down and Release Attention (eye contact) Greeting Manners (not jumping on people) Loose Leash Walking Waiting politely at doors and gates Waiting politely for meals Training Manual Leash and training collar or harness (if needed) Optional DVD of your dog ($175) Progress Report Graduation Certificate One 90-minute review/handling session at our Valley Center ranch
Three-Week Obedience Camp
The 3-week program is an intermediate-level program which focuses on practical, everyday obedience. This program provides a little bit of everything, including manners and socialization (dogs and people). All behaviors are taught with medium-level distraction proofing. This program offers the following:
Sit and Sit-Stay Down and Down-Stay Loose Leash Walking Come from 25-feet Attention (eye contact) Greeting Manners (not jumping) Waiting politely at doors and gates Waiting politely for meals Leash and training collar or harness (if needed) Light Socialization (dogs and people) Detailed Training Manual Weekly Progress Reports Graduation Certificate Optional DVD of your dog demonstrating his/her training ($175) Two 90-minute review/handling sessions at our Valley Center ranch
Four-Week Master Training Camp
The 4-week program offers the highest level of obedience training and socialization. We teach dogs to do as their owners ask, wherever the owners may be, no matter what the distractions. Dogs are taken on numerous field trips out into the community (parks, libraries, garden centers, home improvement stores, feed stores, Starbucks, pet stores, etc.) in order to provide them with extensive socialization and distraction "proofing" opportunities. Distraction proofing is undoubtedly one of the most important elements of training, although it is often overlooked.
We also teach the dog how to behave nicely in the home (remain calm, refrain from counter surfing, garbage raiding, and jumping on furniture and guests).
During your first private lesson, you will receive a DVD of your dog demonstrating his or her newfound skills. The four-week program includes all of the following:
Sit and Sit-Stay Down and Down-Stay Loose-Leash Walking Come from 40-feet Attention (eye contact) Greeting Manners (not jumping) Waiting politely at doors and gates Waiting politely for meals Weekly progress reports Detailed Training Manual Training Collar and Harness (if needed) Graduation Certificate DVD of your dog demonstrating his/her training One 90-minute lesson at our Valley Center ranch, and One 2-hour follow-up lesson in your home
In addition to the core obedience training, your dog will learn one of the following behaviors of your choosing:
Leave It Drop It/Give Place/Bed Automatic Sit (on walks)
Board and train can be an excellent choice for people who don't have the time, interest, or ability to train their dog. Once the dog has completed the program, follow up lessons will be provided for the owner. For continued success, it is vital that the owner learn how to work with their dog so that they are able to maintain their dog's newfound training and skills. Fortunately, obedience practice can easily be incorporated into a daily routine.
The effectiveness of a completed program depends on various factors, which include the proper participation of the owner, continued practice with the dog, the dog's temperament, and the health of the dog.
Because we can only accept a limited number of dogs into our board and train program, advance reservations are necessary. Please note that we require documentation of a full, current set of immunizations for each dog. There is an additional 15% fee for all unaltered male dogs over the age of 6 months. In addition, some breeds, such as bulldogs, and most hounds require five weeks to complete training.
